The Inner Sphere: 3058

The Inner Sphere is a complex place, with wars, raids, and political intrigue. With the revelation of Joshua Marik's death and Victor Steiner-Davion's attempt to substitute a double for the child, the Free Worlds League and Capellan Confederation carved out a chunk of the Federated Commonwealth, with Katrina Steiner declaring the Steiner half of the Commonwealth to be an independent state to be known as the Lyran Alliance. The Sarna March is in chaos and now christened the Chaos March, with planets declaring their independence and changing hands between several parties.

Clans Jade Falcon and Wolf have nearly obliterated each other in a bloody Trial of Refusal with the Wolf Clan in exile retreating to defend the Inner Sphere from the remaining Crusader Clans. Clan Jade Falcon, now under the leadership of Khan Marthe Pryde, attempted to take Tharkad but failed. Clan Smoke Jaguar still has not recovered from the losses at Tukayyid and is vulnerable in its weakened state. While the Draconis Combine continues to search for the Clan homeworlds, the Word of Blake has taken Terra through subterfuge as ComStar relocates its base of operations to Tukayyid.

Finally, the Periphery is growing stronger, with the Taurian Concordat and Magistracy of Canopus expanding their spheres of influence through exploration and an alliance, while the Marian Hegemony has conquered the Lothian League and the Outworlds Alliance has developed some sense of stability.

[NEW] The Inner Sphere Map is now imagemapped via Netscape's client-side imagemaps as specified in the IETF draft. You can see what each area on the map is simply by moving your cursor over the map. Try it; it's cool!
